As we roll on into the 2020 US Presidential Election over the coming days, I feel it would be important to share this documentary with you - one that continually inspires this page.

This film by Adam Curtis called 'Hypernormalisation' is one of the most eye-opening documentaries that you'll probably ever see, and it discusses the feeling of 'hyper-reality' [in a Baudrillard sense] of the kind of world we are living in today, and why it's important to understand that the sense of mass confusion is designed to subjugate us into compliance.

Days, weeks, months and years pass where we gaze on at the world's events in horror - these events shift and change, sometimes at an alarming rate, and often these events are met with divisive figures [such as Trump, Johnson/Cummings and Farage] to provide us with answers when the quest of these individuals is less about providing us with a workable and just vision for the future of our collective societies, but for the purposes of the individual quest for power that is often driven by an almost nihilistic and apoltical ideology rather than one that represents the Right or Left.

It's relatively old [from 2016] but many hallmarks of this documentary are still relevant in 2020 - and it's oddly prescient of what's happening politically in today's 'hyper-real' post-truth world where nothing makes sense, and in that void, with an apathetic society unknowing and unwise; disillusioned to finding real 'truth', focused on 'wedge' or 'emotive' issues rather than the deeper, or more complex societal and political issues, you find people like Donald Trump, Boris Johnson/Dominic Cummings and Nigel Farage ready to fill that void and provide society with false narratives that appeal to society's inner zombie.

He checks his cheat notes, he shouts out to help from somebody off-camera about what the number is, and he still fails to give the interviewer an answer.

Bannon's ties to the UK go far and beyond the scope of many people in the UK but it's important to note them with distinction - particularly after his arrest on charges of fraud.

The UK's populist political scene should be quaking in their boots with this news. The question is that if found guilty [of a crime that carries a maximum sentence of 20 years], and if charged, then whether or not Bannon would be the kind of individual who'd be quite happy to oblige the world with his obvious wealth of knowledge and above all else 'dirt' on each of them. A case of taking them down with him.

In March, Labour MP Peter Kyle asked Matt Hancock about care homes and what the Conservatives were doing to help - since then, an estimated 20,000 people have died in care homes, with Boris Johnson blaming the care homes themselves.

To help rationalise and contextualise why for the similar purposes the UK Government are incorporating the instruction of singing 'Happy Birthday' whilst washing our hands and also the concept behind mentioning Christmas in their daily briefing from the perspective of behavioural science.

By making associations with happy memories, the Government hope to lure people in to a false sense of security and blind optimism, where rituals enhance consumption, featuring the voice of Prof. John Edmunds – himself a member of the SAGE Committee who only today said that normality was a long way away.
